ContentManager
The Content Manager software enables the site administrator to fully manage the text and image management within the website in real-time.
On entry to SiteManager admin would be required to select the Content Manager link which will direct them through to the management screen where they will have the ability to view pages within the system and or choose to create a new page as required.
General Text and Page Management
If admin wishes to manage an existing page they will be required to select the page from either a dropdown menu or a listing, once admin has selected the page they wish to manage the system will display for them the current content held within the database.
At this point the system will load the management suite that enables the site administrator to manage the content as follows (EXAMPLES ONLY):
- Source View
- Template Selector
- Text Control / All standard Word functions
- Form Builder
- Asset Library Management
- CSS Based style Picker
- Colour Management
Once admin has performed their change they will simply press the update button at which point the changes will be saved and page will be updated for site users to view. If required admin will have the ability to set a page to ‘hidden’, this option would be used for pages where changes need confirmation prior to them being made live. If this option is chosen the current information will be displayed until the page status is changed from ‘hidden’ to ‘active’.
Image Management
From Content Manager admin has the ability to manage the images that are displayed within the page. If admin wishes to add an image they will use the image management button which enables them to browse their computer and locate the required image, once admin has located the image they will simply press the upload button which will place the image directly on the server. Once the image has been uploaded admin will have the ability to specify the aligning of the image, right / centre or left justified.
In addition to the image management admin will have the ability to upload Adverts that are to appear on certain pages. Once admin has uploaded the relevant adverts they will be required to set the link for where the advert is to send the user to. If the link is internal to another page of the site they will have the ability to choose the page from a managed dropdown. If the link is external admin will be required to enter the URL the link is to send the user to.
Creating New Pages
As and when admin requires they will have the ability to create new pages they wish to include within the website. Admin would be required to select the ‘Create New Page’ option which will direct them through to the Page Template area where they will be shown the page layouts available.
Admin will be required to select the page layout they wish to use and once done will be directed through to the page creation area. From this point admin will be required to enter the page title and specify the link they wish to use (See Menu Manager for more information).
Once admin has specified the information they will have the ability to populate the page with the text and images they wish to include. Once the page has been created admin will be required to select the status for the page, this would be a choice of ‘hidden’ or ‘active’.
Page Deletion
If admin wishes to delete a page from within the website they will simply select the page and press the delete option, the system will give admin a warning that once the page is deleted it cannot be retrieved and the other warning the system will give (where relevant) is links that will be affected by the deleting of the page.
The system will display the ‘affected’ links and will enable admin to click the links and view the pages in full for them to manage the pages accordingly.
MenuManager
The Menu Management area enables admin to fully manage the menu navigation area within the site. Admin has the ability to add / remove / update or hide navigation as and when required. Admin has the ability to create top level links which can be either clickable links or set them as header titles.
As admin created additional navigation links they will be required to specify which top level link the sub link is to appear in and admin will specify whether they would like to indent / outdent the links to create a ‘menu tree’.
If admin wishes to delete a top level / sub link they will be given a warning and notified of the links and pages that will be affected by the link being deleted. Admin will be required to confirm the deletion prior to the link being removed.
If admin does not wish to delete the link or are unsure they would be recommended to ‘hide’ the link temporarily until they have determined whether the link should be deleted.
NOTE: When admin creates links within the menu they will be required to specify whether the links are for registered users only / for site users only or for both.
TemplateGallery
The template gallery area is an information area to enable admin to view the various page templates that are used within the system. From the gallery admin has the ability to select a template and view a full screen jpeg version to enable them to view the levels of control that are within the particular template.
In addition admin has the ability to view all pages within the site that are using the selected template. Once admin has made the request the system will generate a clickable list of the pages that are using the selected page template.
FileManager
The file management software enables admin to run a file resource area within the website and or include downloadable files within certain pages of the site. As admin wishes to add a file to the site they will be required to enter a file title, file description, file keywords and specify the file category they wish to include the file in and also whether the file is for the general site of registered users only.
Once admin has entered the information they will be directed through to the file upload screen where they will have the ability to browse their computer to locate their required file. Once the file has been located they will simply press the upload option which will place the file directly on the server.
The file management software works with all file types and picks up on the file extension, the system can ensure when the files are viewed on the front of the site the document type icon will appear to ensure site users know the format of the file they are about to view / download.
Within the file management software is category management, this enables admin to create and manage the file categories they wish to assign the files to. This enables site users to select a file category at which point the system will refresh and display the relevant files.
SearchManager
The search facility enables site users to search the entire content of the website by a specified keyword. Once the user has input their required search term they will press the search button which will then read the database for both pages and documents that match the search term.
Once the search has been performed the user will be directed through to the search results page where the results will be displayed. If the system finds ‘X’ results a pagination facility will come into play to enable users to navigate through the results by page number of by using the next and previous option.
Search results will be referenced and an icon will be displayed next to each result to enable the user to see whether the search result is a page or document.
